“Sista Mary” Founder

Sista Mary founded Worthy of Love in 2013 after an experience in her own life lead her to throw birthday parties for homeless kids. Every Thursday of the month, Mary and her husband Ari gather volunteers and decorations and throw the party of the year.

Mary truly believes every kid deserves a birthday party and she has made that come to life.

Matthew Bennett, Mentor

You will never meet someone in your life like Matt. His dedication to the Union Rescue Mission is something we should all strive to be. Matt first got involved with the Union Rescue Mission seven years ago, and hasn't left it's side since. His love for the kids there is impeccable and we wouldn't be able to do what we do without him!

The Volunteer Team

One of the reasons Worthy of Love has made it so far is because of our volunteers. We've had volunteers that have continued to stay with us over the years, but we also welcome new volunteers every month. Our parties wouldn't be what they are without the dedication of our volunteers. From set-up, to bringing in donations, to clean up, we have found the most amazing people that complete our Worthy of Love family.

Boomer and The Boom Squad

Boomer and the Boom Squad are the reason people get off their feet and dance at every party! Boomer provides the music, while the Boom Squad makes sure everyone dances.

Skiddy Cat

A Worthy of Love party would not be complete without Skiddy Cat! Skiddy Cat is Skid Row's mascot and makes a special appearance at every birthday party.

The kids look forward to eating cake and having a dance party with Skiddy.

By the end of the party, the kids have a new best friend!

Union Rescue Mission

The Union Rescue Mission has been located in Downtown LA on Skid Row for the past 126 years. Men, women and children find shelter and comfort here every night. The URM and Mary teamed up to be able to throw parties for kids that are currently calling the shelter their home.
